It is the creative stream which is the heartbeat of the artist, the composer, the musician, the singer, the performer, the author, the inventor, and even the businessman or leader. The creative river within is to be the foundation of the Christian Arts.

Creative Leaders of the Bible:

Consider some of the creative leaders in the Bible who lived out of God’s voice and God’s vision. Abraham, a creator of wealth, a founder of a nation, and a spiritual giant, created a child in his old age, according to the promise of God. Moses led 2 million Israelites out of the land of Egypt. David wrote over 100 beautiful musical psalms which are recorded for us. The imagery and symbolism of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel are breathtaking. The tabernacle in the wilderness was an incredible display of the work of anointed craftsman with all kinds of skills reproducing the vision Moses was shown of heaven. The tabernacle of Solomon was so overwhelmingly beautiful that wealthy and influential visitors from far countries brought gifts to him just so they could have the opportunity to view it.

Then there is the beloved John the apostle who wrote both the Gospel of John and the book of Revelation. He begins His Gospel with majesty and intrigue: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...In Him was life, and the life was the light of men...The true light enlightens every man...." (John 1:1-9). John is writing, creating, and composing from the river of God which flowed within his heart.

In the book of Revelation, we find that John has allowed the Holy Spirit to give him 21 chapters of visions of what is going on in the throne room of Almighty God. Similar to Handel, John has quieted himself down into his spirit, sensed the flow of Almighty God within him, and has written out for us words and pictures of what is transpiring in the presence of God.

Creative Leaders of Today:

This, I believe, is exactly the work of the Christian composer or artist or inventor. They are to quiet themselves into their spirits, where they are to hear the voice of God and see the vision of God, and then release what they see and hear into the world around them. This is truly the greatest feat and the greatest gift any artist could give the world - a clear revelation of God’s glory toward us that believe.
